July 2026
Too Hot To Handle
The 80+ degree weather was here to stay and I didn’t get to any more baking even though I did stock up on butter during a sale to freeze for future baking. I might make another round of cookie dough balls to refrigerate and freeze to last me the rest of the summer. I had completely forgotten about the chocolate cookies with caramel and toffee that I used to make and I’m gonna see if I can remember that recipe.
I fetched the rest of my t shirts and assembled the last two panels. I’ve used two entire spools of thread and I have one last bright blue one to go through before I need to purchase more thread. I’m hoping to get two days of this month to work on it but honestly July is already looking crazy busy for me. I have a trip to England on the horizon and my sister Blake is in town before their next adventure so most of July is dedicated to family time.
I only have three more postcards to paint before I can announce my project to social media and find people to send them too. I’m wondering if I should include something else in the letters that I send to people so that they can keep some art for themselves. Maybe I’ll make prints of the postcards I send but that would exponentially increase the personal cost of this passion project. Maybe I’ll ask who wants to be included in it and tell them to Venmo me $5 to offset the printing costs.
My memoir progress has inched along. It’s wild that when I’m depressed, working on my memoir makes me wanna die and when I’m happy I also just don’t wanna think about the past and get sad. I did have one big discussion with my mom that has been helpful. I recorded it to come back to as I work on my first chapter. I also have the other half of GG Hill’s memoir journaling workshop to watch and another one from the Bridport Prize org that will hopefully help me to get through some parts I’m stuck on. I also have one more big conversation to have with my mom in conjunction with some heavy stuff I’ve been working on in therapy that will help me with my chapter where I talk about being suicidal.
Annoyingly my flights to and from London were changed from red eyes so now I have to be awake on the plane for eight hours or so which I will use to my advantage. I’m thinking I’ll either bring my laptop and work on my memoir during this time or work on prepping the many social media posts I haven’t had the energy to post, in addition to writing my July birthday cards.
I also have half of a blog post drafted and another guest blog post that I’m almost entirely finished editing and hopefully will be able to publish this weekend!!
I finally made a depop account and I’m going to try to sell some of my barely worn clothing and reorganize my closet. I have two brand deals percolating, one may not happen at all, I’m still debating, but the other is a sure bet, I was offered a free month of Rent the Runway! I’m going to make some videos and post them and hopefully they’ll do well enough that they’ll want to pay me for the video to promote it on their own accounts. I remain, as always, extremely hopeful that this one moment will change my life.
